I was marvelling

To a friend the other day about how breezy it's been, this transition into my new job.

"People are so friendly! And we just, sorta, talk about stuff and laugh! It's easy!"

"Are there a lot of girls around?"

"Actually, no..."

"That's why."

Sorry, ladies.

Most of my jobs have been with scads of womenfolk - much talk of chocolate and shoes, estrogen levels off the charts. There were tight cliques and constant whispers and subtle social boundaries to learn and oh sweet Jesus I'm getting hives just thinking about it. Don't misunderstand me, I had some solid times with these gals and made some strong attachments.

It's just that now that I'm out of it, working in video games (boys, boyz, boiz), a world free of drama has finally been revealed unto me. I do my thing, I make my nerdy comments, I drink my orange soda, no one hates me for having a nice face sometimes, I don't cry in the bathroom.

Success!

yes, I get along so much better with men. some women can just be terrible, and somehow all the other women are sucked into the terribleness. I see cliques even with mom's groups, and I'm thinking, "I thought I was done with this after high school..."

I love me a big gaggle of girls, but yeah, having worked in a restaurant/bar with a lot of flightly girls, I definitely know that the drama they perpetuate can be obnoxious...I guess it depends on the girls. As we've discussed, the wrong girls can make your life miserable. But some of my groups of girls are amazingly good amazings friends....

By the way, I haven't forgotten about your email, I'm looking forward to writing you back, I've just been busy working and getting headaches.
