I've hat it

Thank you for all the get-well-soonz aimed at my pickle. Thursday and Friday were purty rough, Saturday things got a little better and today she was definitely on the mend. As of now (*knock on forehead*) neither cc and I are sick. 'Course that could change at any moment...

While HJ sniffled, I knitted. (A slouchy beret thing for me, out of bulky yarn.) And forgot just how much I lurved it. Now this isn't to say there weren't some bumps along the way (read: me screaming "I'M NOT DOING THIS ANYMORE!" and throwing my needles dramatically to the ground), but I'm super proud of myself for following a pattern and learning lots of new skills off the YouTubez.

And dudes! It actually came out like the pattern foto! Christmas miracle.

I considered showing off the hat myself, but realized I had a much cuter model available.

(And people -- my cousin Christie, specifically -- if I can knit? Then so can you. Srsly. I'm so spatially challenged, I forget how to fold our stroller a few times each week. Dooooooooo it.)

Oui oui I am so hip.

Dramatic chipmunk!

  2. Nice work! I wish I enjoyed crafting more. Like I can totally do it, but it feels like a mega chore to me. Right now I'm in the middle of a bunch of embroidered burp cloths for my sister and I'll be sooooo glad when it's done. Happy to do it for her, but BLEGH. What's the secret to actually liking it? Or are you not supposed to like it while you are doing it, but you feel the zen after a la yoga?

Glad the babe is feeling better!

PS- I refer to things as Christmas miracles (mostly in my head) all.the.time. We are twinsies sometimes.

  6. Love the hat and color you picked - mushroom is soo the new black. I swear HJ looks like she just grew a coupla inches! And, dramatic mini-tantrum-fests, so cathartic - gots to happen from time to time.

  7. Sorry Little Miss was sick! Glad you've gotten through it OK. Ha, her expression in the first picture is all, NOT IMPRESSED, MOM!

I used to crochet but could only make weird blanket things...

  9. aw thanks for all the sweet comments peeps! and cc thanks you for the break, b/c i love asking him "it is cute? are you proud? right? huh? now do you like it?"

    and specifically:

@nav: for me, once i get going in a groove (b/c the bumps at the beginning INFURIATE ME) i do actually like it -- i think because i'm srsly shocked i can actually do it? i also like to find a good combo of challenging but mind-numbing so i can sort of meditate to it? i think you might just be too good at it to get jazzed ;)

@krista: oh dude, you could so do it. i got a dvd that taught me how...(altho my family thinks i'm nuts b/c i chose to learn a weird method? and they all do it another way? anywho.)

I dunno, dood. Knitting leaves me with weird, dead, cramped-up hands and an ulcer. I have not progressed to the unsupervised knitting stage yet. *sigh*
