Halloween in yo' face

Dude. Peeps in my 'hood take Halloween vary, vary seriously. Most houses (not mine! I may enjoy the domesticz, but holiday decorator I am not...yet?) have some sort of sumpin going on (ghosts hanging from trees, gigantic tarantulas on doors, the obvious and banal pumpkin) -- but then every third house or so takes it to a whole new level.

It's hard to capture the details of dedication on filmz, but I attempted a couple shots the other day on our walk home...

Uh. Am I right??

  1. yowzers! can't wait to see what these people do for christmas! giant blow up frosty snowman? loves it.

  2. Ppl do the same here! Only... it causes a yearly controversy when someone somewhere hangs somethin in a tree cause well... in Kentucky that sadly has multiple meanings. lolz :/

  3. Is that someone hanging from a tree? Wow. You'd have no idea it was halloween here in San Francisco :)

  4. Ha, I actually love this! I love Halloween decorations for houses, I'd never have the patience to do it -- we're proud of our two jack-o-lanterns on the porch, but I love it when others do because it's unexpected for Halloween.

    Those are definitely some intense houses, man.

  5. no one around here does too much because all of the churches have hijacked the children for "fall festivals." (i mean in my little ol' town, not sure about bigger town where i work)

    anyway, i'm moving in.

  6. Wowza, yes a guy hanging from a tree limb is pretty freaking creepy. Sheesh.

  7. Wow...that's a little creepy. Get ready for a National Lampoon's house come Christmas!

    Harper + cozy sweater and hat + wagon + no geese = better than pumpkin pie!

  8. the scariest one is the white ghostie thing. it looks vaguely religious, like an angry mother theresa.

  9. @mic: there are BLOW UP PUMPKINS one street over.

    @kalen: i still think of that meaning, even in out west colo...eek.

    @gigi: i know! such a difference. peeps did NOT get into the holidays in sf...

    @mandy: i don't know...punkin pie is pretty perfect ;)

    @mm: I AGREE.
