Eaten by a scarf

I'm spending this naptime drinking out of a Missouri mug (given to me during my semi-pre-term labor saga) and pondering the question of: Should dads really host playgroup? A mom in mine just informed us her husband unit would be hosting from now on -- and that was that.

It feels suuuuuuuper awkward and strange to me. Try and talk me out of my judgies, but I'm guessing you'll fail?

i think the dad thing might be weird, but i'm sans kiddo so i don't know how i'd feel about it.

  2. Our "mom's" group has always been equal parts moms and dads. It was awkward at first but we got over it. That's all I can say, I can see where it would feel weird.

  3. Let's just nip this in the bud before our house gets looped into the gender mixed hosting - WEIRD.

  4. I've had a few baby classes where there've been dads in the midst and it always feels a bit awkward. Kinda like you have to put vibes out there like, yeah I may talk to you cuz I'm a nice, chattsy girl from the MidWest, but I'm married! See. Ring. On. Finger. Mebbe that's just me being weird tho. So much for me not being bound by gender roles.

  5. i know i sound uber crabby here, but this group IS called 'MOMS of wash park" ai'ght? i'm okay with dads joining in when it's expected, obvs, but this is just...no. she has a new obligation and is thrusting him on us instead.

and: ahahahahaha at cc hosting playgroup sans me. ahahahaha x infinity.

  6. Since most of my mom groups spend the whole time talking about how dads don't help the way we want them too - I can imagine it would really change the conversation...BUT - the stay at home dads out there can get lonely and in need of adult conversation too - so I try to embrace it (though I did go back to work right when the dad joined so I haven't actually participated in the mixed sex group) :)

  7. We have a dad that hosts a playgroup and don't tell his wife, but I enjoy his company much more than hers. Seems weird, but it's worth a shot.

  8. Ya know, this chick is so socially awkward (just the truth) that her husband HAS to be better company. I'll try and see it that way! ;)
