Christina Applegate in
Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead was THE epitome of beautifulness and chic when I was a littleone. Watching it now (I bow to your wisdom-in-programming, HBO), I can't even see the error of my thinking. She still looks amazing and suddenly I'm eBay'ing high-waisted pleated pants in olive drab.
Reminds me of when I re-watched 'Roseanne' and realised that the decor of their house was pretty much what my childhood home looked like. Hehe!
ReplyDeleteHm, I feel an early 90s movie nostalgia night coming on...
Oh goodness - I love that movie. And I was always so super super jealous of the fancy job she landed.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's because my torso is freakishly short, but I can't pull off pleated, high-waisted pants for the life of me. Of course, I still desperately want to and try every so often, but it always ends in sadness. I was literally JUST looking at these and wishing I could buy them: http://tinyurl.com/4e8kugw .
One of my all time favorite movies. I can totally see you as a modern day Swell!
ReplyDeleteLOVED that movie. I actually love any movie with Christina Applegate in it ....The Sweetest Thing is one of my all time favs! It's a must watch if you haven't already seen it.
ReplyDeleteMust be a late 80's/early 90's nostalgia night -- I'm in the mood for Adventures in Babysitting...oh man, I will forever LOVE the big hair and banana clips from that era. In fact, I had really long hair when I was eleven and begged my mom for a perm so I could look just like Kelly Kapowski. I walked out of the salon with a chin-length "body-wave permanent" mess, pretty much a human gerbil. I cried for years...get the pants!
ReplyDelete@lyndall: oh MYYY i love roseanne. altho i have to pretend the whole last season didn't happen...
ReplyDelete@meredith: it's so funny, until last nite i didn't really realize she was an exec assistant which is a job i'm familiar with now and would NOT want. it seemed so glamorous as it was s'posed to! i look dumb in high-waisted numbers, because i have a little tum. probably only christina circa '91 should wear them...
@mamat: i've never seen it! totally on my list now. i do love her dearly.
@mandy: omg i am laughing AND crying on her behalf. human gerbil ahahah NO!!! i so wanted a perm for many years, but never had the balls to do it. i bet you looked cuter than you think ;)
